The Helambu trek is a great short trek nearby Kathmandu Valley. Despite being so close to Kathmandu. The area of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek more fantastic. The great Himalayan scenery at the border with Tibet and monasteries make a trek more interesting.
Your trek begins from Sundarijal, 35,minutes drive by car from Kathmandu. After about an hour’s walk, we enter Shivapuri National Park we need to buy national park permit there,then the trek Continuing along the Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati and Sermathang, the trek ends at the Melamchi Pul Bazar in the Helambu region. The trek passes through dense mountain forests with great Himalayan views with the beautiful rice terraces.
<p>Drive by car/jeep/van to Sundarijal almost 25 minutes from Thamel, thereafter the trekking starts gradually uphill through the sub tropical jungle, all the way up via many different Tamang villages. you can have a tea break in Mulkharka after 2 hours walking on the uphill. So you need to have rest taking a cup of tea in a small local tea shop having the view of the Kathmandu valley. There after still your trekking continue uphill throughthe jungle. You will get a small pass (Bhnajyang) Borlang bhanjyang. Then eventually your trekking will go all the way gentle down to till Chisapani village. It is very beautiful place to see the mountains or the Himalaya range.</p>
<p>After the breakfast your trekking goes gently down to Pati Bhnajyang, thenthe trail will go flat along the rough road till Thankune bhanjyang. It isbetter place to have a cup of tea before climbing start, this day yourtrekking go through mix of both villages and the jungles.</p>
<p>After breakfast you have to ascend for 40 minutes, till the top of small hill,then your trekking goes on the flat till Kutumsang through the jungle. Your trek permits will be check there or if you do not have the permits from Kathmandu. You have to buy your permits there. Then you will walk all the way up and flat through the jungle until Mangen Goth.</p>
<p>This day is the highest point of your trekking. So you will feel some more harder than last days because of the altitude. You may feel some breathless also any way you will have your both lunch and dinner in Thadepati. After Lunch better to go for walking and hiking around the area.From there you can see the mountains vies of Lantang area, and Numbur Himalaya range sun set is be very beautiful from Thadepati.</p>
<p>After photograph of the sunrise in the mountains, go to the hotel, and take breakfast. Then after you will descend all the way down to MelamcheGaun through the pine conifer and Chimal forest. You will cross a suspension bridge before the village. It is a big and beautiful Sherpa Helmovillage. It has a school and the Gumbas better to stay in this village because of the long way dawn to go next place rather. You can go to visit this villageafter the lunch, then your day will be over here.</p>
<p>From Melamchi village the trail still goes all the way down for more than 1hour till the stream. Then cross a small bridge over stream and climb all theway up again through some villages and the Jungle till Tarkeghyang, a big Sherpa Helmo village. But it is almost empty because of migration to thecity for employment. And the lack of proper amenities for the local people of this areas, it is very nice mountain village, but seems almost like abandoned. few families are still there those families have nice hotels inthe village so you can stay also here if you have time some more extra days for trekking, or you can take your lunch break only then continue to Sermathang village it is also very beautiful and big village, the trail is goingvery gentle down from tarkeghyang. It has a school, police and Gumbas,nice hotels, your trekking permits have to be check here.</p>
<p>After Sermathng village you have to pass many villages. You can see a great statue of Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche)the way is going very easy flatand gentle down to kakani. Take a tea break there your trekking descendsagain to the Melamchi bazaar, then take a bus to Kathmandu.</p>
<p>This is quite an interesting day for the cultural site. You will visit the cultural heritages of Kathmandu like – Royal Palace, Patan, Hanuman Dhoka yellowTemple, Kumari . Krishna Mandir etc. It will be your very nice day to see such beautiful architectures and historical sites of Nepal.</p>
