The Upper Mustang trek of Nepal is an exotic trekking to the enchanting dried landscape with ancient Tibetan villages, rare medieval Buddhist arts, the exotic culture and the unique beauty of the Himalayan desert. The medieval settlement of Upper Mustang and its capital Lo Manthang lies in the remote Himalayan desert behind the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayas ranges .Geographically the land is an extension of the Tibetan plateau, characterized by windy and airy valleys .The people in Upper Mustang are Tibetan origin, might migrated from Tibet centuries ago, and belong to Bhotias and Loba communities influenced from the Tibetan Buddhism but in administration they are known as Bista and Gurung. They practice Sakyapa concept school of Tibetan Buddhism.The only place to see Tibetan culture in completely undisturbed state the houses and monasteries in here have medieval look and unique local architecture at several hundreds year old Monastery and Gumbas. Mostly they are built with stone and sun baked mud bricks mix with the huge woods which are incredible for the visitors. the Upper Mustang has covered the land about 2600 sq km in area and is a home of 6000 people. Festivals are religious in nature, the Tiji festival being the biggest .The capital called Lo Manthang , a walled complex with the houses of local notabilities and monasteries will be one of the main attraction of the trek.Recently in 2007, an international team of explorers have discovered invaluable objects of cultural and historical importance in Upper Mustang caves. even if it is technically hard to go In high caves requiring technical climbing they have discovered beautiful Buddhist culture and historical objects around 800, years old. Now there is road access all the way up to Lomanthang and also Tibet (China) Border. so you can also drive up explore the areas and objects then you can drive back or better to trek up then drive all the way back to pokhara. you have many options.

The Upper Mustang (special area ) Trek described here begins and ends in Kagbeni village 2:30 hrs walk to north from Jomsom  a part of Mustang , but belongs to the (ACA) Annapurna conservation Area, the special permits requires just upper part of Mustang beyond Kagbeni village. where your permits check in for the upper Mustang. The Upper Mustang is one of the extra ordinary place in the world that  the visitors have to visit this part of Nepal at least once in life time.  You have two different choices to go Kagbeni   either by Flight from pokhara  to Jomsom  or by Motor Bus or jeep. Or  if you have enough long time it would also be worthy to walk from Nayapul  near pokhara or Besisahar over Thorong-La then Visit Upper Mustang and Trek back to Jomsom and fly down to pokhara or walk all the way down to pokhara. This trekking route is guided through the government authorized trekking company, the special permit cost US$-500 per head for first 10 days then  extra US$-50, per head per day additional and needs Annapurna conservation permits also. It can be much better to have minimum 13 days time to complete this trekking or above maximum 17 days is enough to explore most things of this area.

<p>Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport (KTM) you will be greeted by a representatives from Brave Heart Himalaya Treks .After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggages to the Vehicles of comapany. You will be then transferred to the any star level's hotel. Then Check after check in, you can either take a rest,or hang around in the city, In the evening we will organize a Welcome Dinner at an excellent traditional Nepalese Restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program as well as a fine meal. <p>Today after breakfast you start tour with our guide to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks include the World Heritage Sites: the historic Durbar Square, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddha Nath) which is one of the largest Stupas in the world.Then back to the Hotel,discus about next day's pokhara trip.</p>

<p>Early morning at between 7 -8 am, we set off for Pokhara by company's Van or Car. we will see more of countryside of Nepal that offers greenery rivers, villages, farms and beautiful mountain scenery. Afternoon, we reach Pokhara around 1-2,pm. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna and many other peaks, you will be entrance in star level hotel at lakeside or the areas near by lakeside.Pokhara is city of many lakes it has 9 different beautiful lakes in the valley. This day you can explore the most accessible and beautiful, Fewa Lake during the afternoon, if you like to take a cup of tea it's up to your spontaneous,then back to the hotel where you will do small introduction program with the trek staffs then preparation for trekking.</p>

<p>After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 20 minutes over the mountains with views of 8,000ders such as Annapurna & Dhaulagiri, brings you at Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang. This is a large town, headquarter of the Mustang region,it is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age old Trans-Himalayan Trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon, Continue on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 2,hrs and reaching at Ekley-bhatti village for lunch, 40 minutes of easy walk takes you to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers kag khola and the Kali gandaki river. Kagbeni is an interesting windswept villages situated on the main age old Trans-himalayan trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. In Kagbeni a major tributory, Kag Khola, coming from Muktinath, meets kali gandaki river where you stay an over night,(B, L, D )</p>

<p>Your journey starts with a special permit check up wards to the road site then walk along the road or follow a river bank depends on the level of water. During the walk we have scenic picturesque place to stop through the sandy and windy trails. This trail follows mostly flat but somewhere upand down hill as well. Firstly we reach Tangbe village with narrow alleys among white washed houses, fields of buckwheat, barley, wheat and apple orchards. From there we trek forward to Chhusang where you take lunch break and walk tio till an iron bridge over the Kali gandaki rive, after crossing the river head up to the huge red chunk of conglomerate that has fallen from the cliff above, forming a tunnel through which the Kaligandaki follows. We head on to small ridges reach at Chele village. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>Today, you start trek again and walk further to Eklo Bhatti. We climb to Taklam La Pass (3,624,m/11,923 ft) through plateaus and narrow stretches with views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang and Damodar Danda. Further descend a little to the village of Samar you will have a lunch in this beautiful village. Then the trail that goes to the ridge then descending steeply to a stream. After the stream you will ascend to the cow herd from there you find 2 different ways one is direct to Syangmochen via vena or lower way via Chungsi cave your experience guides take you via this way. Another 3:30 hrs walk takes us to Syanmochen. On the way, we relax along the surrounding of cool streams and juniper trees. Locals use the dried leaves of junipers as incenses to invite deities and start any auspicious work. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>After breakfast we trek uphill to the Yamda La (3,850,m /12,667,ft) passing a few tea houses, chortens and local villages which is like Tibetan style of houses with open Varanda. We cross mountain passes, and an avenue of poplar trees and fields of Barley. The climb to Nyi Pass (4,010,m/13,193,ft) would be a little longer or direct via Geling Descend to Ghaymi but this day you will have the lunch at same hotel where you stay an over night(B, L, D)</p>

<p>Start the trek after breakfast with a pleasant walk. After crossing Ghaymi Khola, the trail climbs to a plateau and passes beside a very long Mani wall, a sacred stone wall made by the followers Buddhism. From the end of the wall the trail heads east to the up hill then village of Charang with a maze of fields, willow trees and houses separated by stone walls at the top of the Tsarang Chu canyon. There is also a huge white dzong and red Gompa to get to your teahouse for tonight's stop. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>This day you trek to Lo-Mangthang with a magnificent view of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna I and Bhrikuti peak. The trail first descends to Charang Chu Canyon and then climbs steeply after crossing the river. Further the trail ascends gently to the 3,850,m windy pass of Lo, from where you can see the Lo-Mangthang Valley. While descending to Lo-Mangthang, views of the walled city appear magnificent with its hills on the Tibetan Border. you stay at hotel for the overnight. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>It is really a best day for you to visit Lomanthang village and explore the surrounding areas. today better to go visit Chhoser caves and beautiful villages along the way to Chhoser caves and Gumbas the cave is really amazingly made over the cliff.After such a wonderful tour you will be back to Lomanthang then go to visit Another attraction four- storey building of the Raja's palace as well as the surrounding panoramic views of the Himalaya. <p>Your returning from Lo-Mangthan, you take a different route than that we came by. Trek to Drakmar via Ghar with more than 1400 years old Ghar Gompa with Guru Rimpoche as the primary figure. The Gompa is also famous for its rock paintings. According to the legend, anyone who makes one wish at the Ghar Gompa, their wish is fulfilled. explore the local area then continue to Dakmar .Likelihood of dusty wind, so suggested to walk in the morning. <p>Today, you get back to Syangmochen as your journey for your overnight stay after a long walk takes 6 hrs. After arrival and lunch enjoy the day exploring the area, but it can be windy in the afternoon, better to walk in evening time or just rest in the hotel. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>Your-track back to Chhuksang takes 5-6 hrs walk. You will have wonderful scenery during the journey with a Himalayan view. your trek will be so joyful on the way down to the tea house (B, L, D)</p>

<p>Your last day of the trekking would be a long one. Better to walk early start as before and trek to Kagbeni. Finishing the upper Mustang trails then you join back the normal Annapurna trail. After lunch at Kagbeni will head on to Jomsom for the overnight stop. (B, L, D)</p>

<p>After morning breakfast you will be check in the airport to fly back to Pokhara. then after 30 minutes dramatic flight to Pokhara between gorge of the two huge mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport guide will transfer you direct to the lakeside hotel. Rest of the time you can pass at lakeside, then an overnight at hotel. (B)LD.</p>
